This complete powder contains taurine and L-carnitine, selenium, as well as higher levels of B vitamins, zinc and natural vitamin E, especially to support older dogs.

Who is Novomineral SENIOR suitable for?

  • Dogs from 6 years of age - for larger breeds
  • Dogs from 8 years of age - for medium-sized breeds
  • Dogs from the age of 10 - for small breeds
  • For exclusively or partially self-prepared feed
  • For daily and long-term administration

Good to know:

  • Developed by a veterinary specialist on the basis of decades of experience in nutritional advice
  • Domestic production with specially selected ingredients
  • Contains extra taurine and L-carnitine to support heart function
  • Contains a higher supply of B vitamins (including natural brewer's yeast), vitamin E and zinc to support the immune system and skin health as required

Our aim is to develop demand-oriented supplements that also meet other quality criteria such as compatibility and acceptance.

What you should know about your senior dog's nutritional needs:

The ageing process is characterized by a decreasing ability to adapt and compensate for external and internal stress factors. This is associated with functional limitations of the organ systems and a higher susceptibility to disease. This also changes the need for certain nutrients.

An increased intake of certain nutrients in old age can be beneficial, particularly antioxidants and zinc. Antioxidants - which include vitamin C, vitamin E and selenium, for example - scavenge free radicals and thus protect against oxidative damage. Put simply, they protect against cell damage and can strengthen the immune system. Zinc is a component of numerous enzymes that are involved in repair processes and is therefore also important for immune defense.

Older dogs have different energy requirements, which is important to bear in mind, as excessive calorie intake can lead to obesity, which can exacerbate existing health problems such as osteoarthritis in older dogs. At the same time, however, seniors need a balanced intake of protein to counteract muscle loss, as well as essential fatty acids to support brain function and skin and coat health.

Last but not least, many older animals are prone to constipation as they usually have reduced intestinal activity. To stimulate intestinal activity, you should feed your pet plenty of fiber, ideally a mixture of pure fiber and prebiotic fibers, which serve as nutrients for the good intestinal bacteria.

Indications #SENIOR

  • Complete supplement for older dogs with all minerals and vitamins
  • For exclusively or partially self-prepared feed (e.g. cooked rations, fresh meat/beef rations)
  • For daily and long-term administration
  • Special feature: Tailored to the needs of older dogs with additional ingredients

Contraindications

  • Not if only complete feed is used
  • Not suitable for feeding to young dogs

Note on compatibility and acceptance

  • Rarely do dogs with digestive problems react to the first administration of natural brewer's yeast. In this case, it is advisable to increase the dosage of the supplement slowly and over several days up to the daily dose. If the abnormalities persist for several days, it is advisable to switch to a complete supplement without brewer's yeast.
  • Some dogs react sensitively to food changes or new supplements in the short term. This can manifest itself, for example, in a change in stool consistency or different drinking behavior. In such cases, we recommend increasing the dosage of our product slowly and over several days up to the daily dose.
  • The likelihood of intolerance to this product is low.

The nutrient supply of a self-prepared ration without supplements shows significant deficiencies in meeting requirements (Fig. 1). This is particularly problematic for older dogs. The deficiencies must be compensated for by appropriate supplements (Fig. 2).
